Truck Info:
93.5 F-350 7.3 Factory Turbo Engine
Had Injector pump replaced & injectors about 3,000 miles ago.
I made the mistake of not taking it back after I drove it for first time but my truck is smoking really blue @ idle and it smokes going down the road.. It uses about a gallon of oil every week as well? I am sure that is not normal.. where do I start on diagnosis?
Blue smoke and oil consumption (if it wasn't doing it before the IP injector job) sounds like a clogged CDR, or blocked/pinched crank case vent hose. Smoking going down the road, if you mean black smoke, could be restricted air intake/filter, IP timing, or the fuel screw is turned up too high on your new IP.
I took the cdr off and soaked it in some gas. while doing that I broke gromet off the bottom of it but got a replacement should I had replaced the CDR?
You can try cleaning yours if you think it doesn't work correctly. Soak it in gasoline for a few hours, and once in a while, take it out, shake it, dump it out etc, and let it soak some more.
Then let it AIR DRY, do NOT blow compressed air through it, you will blow the diaphram.
Also to test if it works correctly, on the top part of it, there will be a very little vent hole, put your mouth on it, and stick you finger in the bigger hole where the connects to the back of the intake, and blow, you should feel the diaphram move inside with your finger, if it doesn't move, it is bad.
It is a Ford/International dealer part only, and not cheap.
If it sprays oil everywhere, you have a lot worse problem than a clogged CDR, that's for sure. Mine "fumes" a little, but isn't wet at all, and I have quite a bit of cc vapor.
It doesn't spray oil everywhere however there is a considerable amount of white fumes coming from the filler neck. Not drove it enough to notice a difference in usage of the oil.. also still same amount of blue smoke coming from exhaust while idling.
