wifes truck- 2002 v8 limited explorer with 116k
yesterday she calls and says the od light is flashing and the message center says check transmission.
she drove it home then when I got home the light was off and all seemed ok. I am taking it to have the codes read and hoping that my mechanics scanner picks up a code. any thoughts?
If the shop you take it to has a professional grade scan tool, they should be able to find a stored transmission diagnostic code. If they have a consumer-grade tool, it's hit or miss as to if it will pull any codes related to the transmission.
Was your wife on the highway when she noticed the OD light flashing, was she going up a hill, etc.? Any more information about the driving condition will help determine the likely cause, although a diagnostic code will likely be of the most help. Are there any leaks from the transmission?

wife "says" she was sitting still waiting in pickup line for kid when it started. vehicle sees limited use (round town mostly) she went on highway when it apparently cleared out......
research shows an od servo issue mostly?
thanks
