You Definately read too much into things... LOL

The 1st page is 6.0 specific. The gist if the matter is you cannot just disconnect the 2nd alternator and motor on, you have to run a jumper wire.

You can never have too much knowledge. I'm learning, so I will read and read and read. I'm also new to Diesels so I am full of questions. You guys may know it all, but I don't mind being the sponge.

Sounds like it would be easier to jut leave the second alternator in place if it ever came to that.

A killer combo would be a 250+ amp upper alternator and a 200 amp 4G lower alternator.

Well hell at that point I'll just use my infinite funds and buy two of the 300 amp monsters and run those lol. :-) Realistically when it does come time to replace them, I'll most likely run a 250 upper and a stock lower. What are the stock outputs from a ford dual alternator setup?

Hot ticket right now is the 140 amp large case 6G upper from the dual alt or snow plow prep and use the 58mm overdrive pulley from the 3G alternator. Alternator is 150 bucks for a lifetime replacement at any local store (in stock) and the pulley is 19 dollars on eBay. Cheap, effective, doesn't require rewiring, and you can replace the alternator at any point it fails for free.
