Has anyone done any audio upgrades to their 2013 F250 crew cabs? I have the Sony system which sonds OK but, I know it could be much better than factory. I'm thinking of upgrading the speakers. Any thoughts?
I don't have a '13 but I did upgrade everything in my '11 outside of the head unit (components in my signature). Upgrading the speakers is a start, you can see in the image below the factory speakers next to the C5's that I bought:
Whoa those pieces of cardboard are rated for 50W power handling!?
I see your OEM speaker has a L-C crossover onboard... where does that go exactly? Do yours have stock tweeters or something?
I have/had the "premium" audio, came with tweeters (in the pillars in the front, in the doors in the rear) that plugged into the door speakers.

That depends, you can keep them or get rid of them, up to you. I chose the C5-570's partly because they came with tweeters that fit in the factory location. There's a number of other alternatives out there, helps to know the dimension of the tweeter you're looking at to make sure it'll fit in the pillar. Not sure how the new trucks are but the housing for the front tweeters just pulls straight out from the door.
Excellent info and suggestions guys,I to want and have been planning new install but like most of use dont want to get rid of all the factory head unit goodies/controls by going with aftermarket head unit, but would be the best sound quality.I still cant decide on what line inverter to use.Are we narrowed down to the PAC or Audio Control units? Or are there others?I wish there was enough room for 6x9's or is there havent tried yet but iam going to think not since havent seen any fit in previous models.
Heres what I put in to keep my ford sync controls, voice ect.Im not sure if it still only works with kenwoods but I can tell you it works as advertised and easy to install.heres the link Add a new Kenwood stereo, keep your SYNC® system

There's other options out there, I know JL makes one but I believe you have to use their volume control to turn the volume up/down. Doesn't make sense to me and I didn't want to mess with that so I went the Audio Control route. I've heard good things about PAC as well.
Yeah I'll have to do some more checking. What kinda sub boxes are you guys using?I seen one before that fits in the back of our trucks on ebay for like $120 US and free shipping, has a 5.75" depth mounting or was it 5.25".Anyways...O and theres the one that can sit on floor right behind the center counsel to I thought about. You could put a good high power(not low profile) sub in and if you want the room you could just unhook and take out when you need to.
Forgot to ask where you guys mounting the amps?I have the plastic storage spots under back seat, which is about the only spot I see to use,but then I would have to take out the storage boxes.
