Code P1316 Injector Driver Module - reasonable pricing?
2 days ago, I got a P1316 Injector Driver Module code and the truck ran terribly. I took the truck to my mechanic who replaced both wiring harnesses beneath the valve covers. The truck still ran the same and the same code continues to appear. Our next step is to replace the Injector Driver Module part number XC3F-12B599-AC. I ran through internet searches and came across rebuilt modules ranging from $250 (plus $125 core) to $700 (plus $200 core). Can anyone point me to a supplier where I can get a good price for the module and from a reputable supplier? I looked at riffraffdiesel's site and did not come up with a hit (durn). Thanks in advance!! Oh, the truck is a 2000 Ford F-250 Crew 4x4 Lariat, 7.3L Diesel (no mods) 6" lift, 35" BFG All Terrain
If I were in your shoes, I'd be starting a thread describing the symptoms and repairs done to date in hopes of figuring out what is wrong with your truck. My guess is it's not the IDM and when that doesn't work, the mechanic will want to replace a wiring harness or change the injectors, or something along those lines.
His first diagnosis was wrong, and it could have been tested before just replacing parts and spending all the labor pulling the parts, but it's your money.
Let us help you discover the true problem that afflicts your rig. We love helping people spend their money on mods just as much as we love helping people solve their problems in the least expensive way possible.

when the shop ran there own diagnostic machine they said there is a problem with the #8 injector also and that was probably causing the miss fire. They removed, cleaned and reinstalled the injector and replaced the IDM. After all was said and done the bill came to $975. Now the truck starts much faster with no smoke and the motor has never been this quiet since I bought the truck 10 years ago. Maybe if I knew where the injector driver module was located I could have changed it myself and saved a few bucks but Im happy with the way the truck runs now and it even picked up a few miles per gallon.

Here's what has been found so far... When I got the code, I came online to see what the possibilities were for a fix. Many threads and solutions were to check the wiring harness for shorts, etc. I took it to my mechanic and mentioned to start with the wiring harness checks. He looked at both and found one set of wires that were worn through to the core by a rocker arm. Another wire was broken from an injector solenoid (?). I ok'd them to replace both sides and when they did, the truck still had the code and ran the same. The only thing left to do (that he knows) is change the IDM. I do have to get the truck back quickly, hence the rush. With the help of this forum and a lot of cool guys, I look forward to the day when I can perform most repairs myself

One thing to note and it may be off topic...I had my mechanic and 2 others tell me that if I buy the parts, then labor would be charged for installation. However, if the parts are not the solution, or wrong or bad, it would be up to me to recover costs, get the right or working part and they would still charge me labor. Now, IF they buy the parts, they will cover the parts and labor if the parts do not provide the solution or if the part is bad. For the IDM, I'm having my mechanic provide the part and installation. Once again, thank you for your replies and I'll update the thread once we get the IDM installed.
If he needs additional suggestions, we'll need more info other than running bad and throws a code. Describe exactly how it's running. When it started. How long it's been doing it. Better or worse when cold or warmed up. Always or just sometimes. Etc.
