Well today I worked on the ranger.Went and picked up a used air box for it.
I also put on new coil packs just for the heck of it. Truck is running and idling much better , no stalling. Here's the live data that i recorded.

calc load 44.3
ect 177
stft -1.5
ltft 12.5 eng rom 1818
veh speed 34

Fuel trims have come way down.I had my code scanner hooked up and noticed a pending coded of po171. this may be an old pending code that i didn't erase. I will erase it tomorrow an see if it's coming back.
I also used starting fluid to check for vac leaks. No leaks found.

Erased the pending code P0171 Hasn't come back yet. Runs well when warm,
better than before. Still stumbles and stalls when cold. still have to replace the O2 sensor and harness pigtail in a couple of days. waiting on parts. Hope that will cure the stumble when cold.

Keep whittling away at it & sooner or later it'll all finally come together!!! The O2 sensor repair will likely make a noticeable difference.

Just FYI!

My truck is fixed. I re torqed the intake, did not fix. Was still sucking air around air intake manifold behind power steering pump.
I removed the intake and the gaskets were fine....bummer. Started cleaning manifold all up and on the end, (the end behind power steering pump) there was a hole in the manifold. The hole was designed by Ford and had a plug snapped into it. Of course it was missing, I actually found the little plastic piece of $?it and Glued it back in. Put the intake back on, started the truck....runs better than ever! Cold or warm, check engine light went off even. Have put 200 miles on the truck since since I fixed Saturday night. Runs great.

Check out my thread.

Well today we put on the harness p0i

well today we put the o2 connector on the harness side and changed the
oxygen sensor(motorcraft) Still runs the same, Stumbles when cold, stalls when cold .Cant drive the truck at all when cold untill it warms up. then it will run fine.Swapped the IAC thinking it was bad. No difference. My LTFT
came down and never went above 8.0 when driving.Did find out that the old 02 was only holding by a couple of threads. Could that have caused the vacumm leak that made the ltft high?

here's the live data I recorded.
calc load 40.7
ect 176
stft 21.0
ltft 3.1
rpm 967
speed 0
spark adv 7
ait 55 f
maf 0.494
tps 14.5
o2s s1 0.140
stft b1 21.0
o2 s s 2 0.140

thanks

scroll down for that last post.
forgot to mention this, lately i have been having probs with the temp
taking too long for the heater to blow warm air ( intermittently). now that the ltft is correct, will the etc sensor cause it to run rough when cold?
bought one at Autozone this summer but wasn't a Motorcraft. I think it was a value craft brand. should i change that?

Your STFT is Way out of norm at 21, as the injector is having to add a lot of fuel to try & compensate for too much air/vacuum leak, somewhere.

If you can still edit your above post, just use the back space key to clear the open space.

Yesterday i replaced the egr. one bolt was half way loose. Could explain the
vacumm leak. truck runs 90% better. when cold now i have normal throttle responce and don't have to wait till it warms to drive it. no large stumble like it's starving for fuel when cold. Still have a small stumble at idle, cold or warm. fuel trims are within norms.

OK, the backed out EGR fastner was a good find, fix & feedback. Way to hang in there & persevere on your trouble shoot.

The idle stumble still kinda sounds like a spark problem. Raise the hood at night & have another look for a light show, maybe try spritzing the plug wires one at a time, to see if you can induce the stumble, or see a light show.

I was thinking since all that has recently been messed with, something may not be seated right, or may have defects. Just because its new, doesn't automatically make it good & remove it from a suspect list, we should require those new parts & the work to replace them prove themselves!!!!

WELL TWO DAYS after thinking it was halfway fixed its back to
no rev when cold till operating temp. when you do rev it after it warms some , it's like some thing gives and it revs fine.
I think i'm going to take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it.

Just picked my truck up from the Ford dealership. They diagnosed
the MAF as being bad. I have put four maf's on this since May.
They said not to run the aftermarket mafs on this truck, So I purchased a Motorcraft and the truck runs fine.Lesson learned on the Brand. Thanks for your help PawPaw
