Yes, when my turbo was replaced back in Fall of 2010 the FSE brought some engineers from Honeywell with him to inspect it. Of course mine didn't fail, it just made lots of noise!
For what it's worth the turbo is covered for 6 years/100,000 miles. It falls under the diesel engine warranty, not powertrain.
