I was pulling a pretty good grade with my 33' 5th wheel today and heard something pop. Dark black smoke started blowing out and lost most my power. Do you think my turbo died? A friend of mine said that his did the same thing and it turned out that some hose came off his turbo. I couldn't see anything that was loose around the turbo, so now it is at the dealer hoping they can get it going qiuckly as I was on my way to a week long fishing/camping trip with the wife and kids.
Any other ideas as what it might be? Do dealers usually have turbos in stock if it is shot and how long is the turn around if they do?

from all the posts I've read it sounds like the dealers usually have them shipped to them. If it is a turbo and turbo only it should take maybe 2 hours for a good tech to have it in and running. hope you get it worked out. take care.
Sorry couldn't help myself. Sorry to hear your broke down, hope they get it fixed quickly.
No problem! Sometimes you just have to laugh when things happen. I'm hopeing they can get it done quickly and we can continue on our trip. The kids took it pretty hard when I told them that we couldn't continue our trip. I hope I hear something today from the dealer. We'll see.
Well, the dealer just got back with me. Said I lost the intercooler and no one in town has one. They have an emergency order in (what ever that means) and the soonest they would have it is late tomorrow (Tuesday) or more than likely Thursday as they are off for the 4th of July. Probably won't be on the road again till Friday. He said it's a 10 to 11 hour job to r&r it. Sound about right?
Now you had me thinking that the service advisor was screwing with me, so I called a couple dealers in town to check availability and hrs for R&R. None had what I needed, but they also said 4hrs. I called my service advisor on it and he said that the actual r&r is about 4 hrs, BUT it's the draining of the motor to make sure nothing got into it that takes the rest of the day. I guess I'd rather have it done right and take as long as it needs than have to to it all again when the warranty is no longer there.
10-11 hours is extremely long to do an intercooler for sure. If warranty wasn't footing the bill I'd be up somebody's you know what. Since it's on their dime let them do it right, as they obviously don't do too many or they'd have it done lots faster. It's not that hard a job.
