Well at 50149 miles the turbo let loose. I will say it was not all the fault of the truck but it still blew. I must say a very big thank you to my local dealer for the great service. They were busy when I dropped it off and it took a few days to get it in but I got the truck back in 9 business days after dropping it off (with out appt ). Has anyone else had a turbo failure and if so did you have any other issues with engine etc?
9 business days to get the truck back seems like too long a time for me. Did they have to get the part from Japan or across the ocean? Glad you got your truck back but I wouldn't expect that kind of down time.
The brg went out and the turbo exploded. I had about 1,000 miles on the oil change I was coming off the hwy ( not towing ) came to a stop sign and when I took off the the truck had no power it started making LOTS of NOISE!! No noise on the hwy at all. When I took off from the stop sign I made it about three blocks before I could safely pull over there was so much smoke coming from the tail pipe I could not see the cars behind me.
I agree that 9 days is a long time but I was the week before the 4th and they had guys off. I am not upset it took that long. They did a great job getting it back together in time for me to take a 600 mile trip the day I got it back. All in all I am very pleased

Hi KenLaffin,
I'm happy to hear that your dealership took excellent care of you. If you'd like, I can document your feedback about your experience. Send me a PM with your name, phone number, dealership name, and any details you'd like to include; I'll do the rest!

No thanks Crystal, I have thanked them for their great work and that is all I wish to do. The reason for the post was to give them praise and I have done that and also to see if anyone else had any issues with their tuck after a turbo replacement.
No they did not but I'm not sure they even inquired... I must say I was shocked to see it go without any warning but at the same time I am very happy the dealer and Ford took great care of me! I can buy any truck I want and I chose to drive a ford for that reason!

It was covered by the 6 year 60,000 mile warranty. I have used only full synthetic oils and I change the oil and filter every 5,000. Truck has given me NO troubles at all this is the first repair I have had with exception of a drive ability issue the first two weeks I owned the truck.
sucks to hear another turbo has failed, these turbos are a joke, ive lost count of how many of these threads ive read.
I was shocked as well as I have only pulled a 5er twice and a utility trailer 12 times but I still all in all it's been a great tuck. I plow my own lot in the winter and it works great for everything I need it for. I know I don't use it like it was intended but I love the truck and will buy a new one again soon. I repair cars and trucks all day every day as I own an auto repair shop so I know how stuff can just fail. Ford will get my business again for sure.
There are literally hundreds of turbo failures posted on the various powerstroke forums. These turbos are utter garbage. They have the highest failure rate I've ever heard of for turbos, BY FAR!!!! Mine failed back in April. An aftermarket solution that doesn't SUCK is going on next week.
Crystal- you could tell somebody at ford that they need to re-design these turbos!! That would be helpful.
