So here it is. A fewmonths back, changed my oil and the pressure went from l or normal to the low side on n. It fluctuates while driving but never drops below n. I have since changed the filter and oil and there hasnt been any difference. I am worried its low but what isthe pressure at n on the guage?
I have a 1990 f150 4.9 6. It is at 376, 000 miles, origanal motor.
That "gauge" is merely for show. Its a glorified idiot light. It is designed to register anywhere between N and L after the sending unit has registered 7psi. Piezoelectric unit.
I'd suggest installing a T and putting a mechanical gauge on to find true oil pressure. Stick with Motorcraft FL-1A, Wix, Baldwin, Napa filter.

With that many miles on the engine, its wore out and loosing oil pressure. Time to start looking at rebuild engine time before it does more dammage with loss of oil pressure.
Get a mechanical gauge on there to see ACTAUL pressure .
If it is low, I would replace the oil pump. they are know to go.
But do it soon before you run it with NO oil pressure and wipe the bearings out
