oil pressure
Hello All,
Just picked up an 88 f150 with the 302. Is there a test for either the oil pressure guage (not a waring light) or the oil pressure sending unit? My pressure seems low, and does not increase or decrease with rpm. I am trying to eliminate the thought that it may be the oil pump. By the way it has 158000 km.

The oil pressure gauge is really an idiot light shaped like a gauge. It doesn't move around based on pressure. Anything over 7psi and it jumps to a predetermined random location.
The oil pressure sending unit is really just a switch.
The real way to test it is with an external oil pressure gauge, attached to the engine in place of the oil pressure sender, and read your real oil PSI.
