I've had a good squeek from the back of my truck for a couple months now. Thought it might be the plastic disc inserts between the springs - So replaced all four of them. Squeek remains. Found out it is the rear spring shackle bushings. Think it is mainly the lower one, but top one could be problem too. Tried the liquid wrench spray trick, no change. My question is has anyone ever removed that hanger and replaced those bushings? The bottom bolt is not a problem, but the top bolt is started from the frame side out, and there does not look like there is any room to remove the bolt, without drilling out the riveted on frame hanger!!! Any suggestions? Thanks guys!!
I am almost done installing energy suspension bushings all the way around. For the rear hangar, you remove the lower bolt first then jack the truck up so the axle along with the spring and shackle come down.
OK - good, that helps --- But how do you address the top bolt on the shackle, to get it out to install the new bushings? What did you do with the top bolt, that's my challenge? Thanks!!
That's the one I was talking about. For the rear of the rear spring, you have the lower bolt between the hanger and shackle. Remove that first then jack the truck up, not the axle. The axle will swing down taking the shackle with it and you will be able to get to the upper shackle to spring bolt. Alternatively you can remove the front hanger to spring bolt, rear hanger to shackle bolt and remove the u bolts for the leaf. You can then pivot the leaf or remove it entirely with the shackle still attached.
