I have a set of Energy Suspension bushings set aside for this but have not taken the time to change them out.Mine are getting bad at 260k so I was wonderring if someone had a good write up I could follow to save time and mistakes....Thanks fellas/gals.
P.S.I am not doing this today just wanted to read up on it.
I don't have a write-up on, but i've swapped my suspension out, as well as a few others. It's pretty straight forward:
Jack up the front end until both wheel are off the ground, support it with jackstands so the wheels stay off the ground by 4-5''.
Place the jack under the axle, on one side, and just lightly put pressure on it relieving the unsprung weight.
Remove the u bolts on the axle, let the axle drop down slightly to where there is just barely a gap between the spring and axle plate.
Remove the bolt and nut that goes through each spring eye.
Remove spring, and repeat on the other side.
To remove the bushings, you can either press the old ones out, or take a drill and a 3/8 bit and drill several relief holes in them to make them come out alot easier. Press the new ones in. If you can't get them in all the way with your hands push them in with a press, vise or whatever means you have.
Install is pretty much the reverse of removal. It will make it alot easier if you disconnect the sway bar ends.
It is best to get the bolt in only one spring eye first, and only get the eye started in the shackle on the other end.
Then get the tit on the center of the spring started in the hole on the axle plate, and only snug up the U bolts just enough to keep it in the hole.
Next get the bolt in the shackle and then snug everything up evenly. Then tighten down.
On the front its better to put the bolt in the front of the spring first, on the rear it seems easier to put the bolt in the shackle first.
Also on the rear, you will most likely not be able to get the bolt out that goes through the shackle and spring, just remove the bolt that goes through the shackle and mount.
Thanks Cory. This may be a two day deal beings I see beer needs to be involved .I put the Tuff Country leveling kit on the front years ago and they were not worn then. The bad part is torquing those ubolts to an un-godly torque.
Yep, its a pita. Within a few months time I did JD's 4 in lift. My 8'', and put my old 4'' on my buddy shane's truck. And now i'm taking mine off for air ride. But this time I think alot of torching will be involved lol......and beer.

Ubolt torque should be in the 100- 125 foot pounds area
