Glad to hear you got it out. Crappy design for the '89.
Yeah, the entire board seems to be covered in some type of clear rubber waterproofing. That's probably a good thing in the long run. (although I suspect I may need to replace my computer anyway...can't get rid of code 34) Wonder if that waterproofing is soluble in acetone or reducer.
Curious to hear how that thing runs...once you wash your windows. haha

A friend of mine was sandblasting a few yards away from my van.
So it is completely covered in dust.

I had to clean the windows twice to get everything of.

But I've noticed a little power gain.
It's not that much, but I'm happy with it.
On the other hand I'll try to set the ignition a bit more ahead of 10°

The Wax or Grease on the port I tried to remove with spiritus.
It wasn't really loosened, but you can almost pull it off.
The clear coat went off with some fine Sandpaper.
Just see when the color turns from grey to copper

The only thing that botheres me is still my AOD.
Checked the fluid level - fits
Drove a few miles, checked the fluid level - 1qt missing

Filled it up and drove again
It still didn't shift into Overdrive, until I gave full throttle up to 75-80mph

After that it shifts fine.
Sometimes OD-Shifts already at 35mph - just as I wanted
I love to cruise around in low RPMs

But after that I need to give it almost a full throttle to drive reverse.
Well, not to drive - but to engage the clutch.

After the van was back in place I checked the fluid level a third time - It seems that there are 2 qts to much

Ahhh yeah. These things can be tricky to get the atf level right. A real pain in the ***. You don't want to run it over-full. Maybe you have a pump siphon you can retrieve that oil through the dipstick tube? Or, I think some AODs have a drain plug. Mine doesn't.
Is your throttle valve cable to the transmission adjusted correctly? You might look into that.
Glad to hear the eprom upgrade got you a few extra ponies.
At this point, I'd be ecstatic to have the factory installed amount of horsepower. I replaced one bad injector today, but by the way it drives, I think I'm giond to have to take a closer look at the passenger side bank. Not an easy task....

Seems the AC condensation drips on the ECM

I"m removing my ECM now I read in another post you must remove the battery to access the bolt that holds the ECM plug in. As I attack this its obvious my AC water drips on the ECM !!!
no wonder its not working properly.

I am curious at to weather or not you can test the ECM some how once its off the vehicle?. I have reason to believe my 89w/302 may have a bad Ecm. I just bought it and I realized on the way home that the alternator was not charging. Took it off and had it bench tested. Bad alt. Install new one. only batt voltage present while running. Switch it out for a new one. still no charge on known good alternator. first I thought wiring, fuse, fusable link etc. I then realized that it also had a very fast idle speed and the cruise control doesnt work. The ECM seems easy to swap out and isnt too costly. Should I just replace it since it is 30 years old, or should I keep looking for a broken/ shorted wire?. I did find evidence of mice nesting on the top of the intake manifold. none of the wires for the charging system run anywhere near there as far as I can tell. I dont have a good wiring diagram which isnt helping the diagnostic program any. Im new to the FORD world so, I dont know if ECM failure is common to this vehicle or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
