Thank you John... The "index of Ford Manuals" is what I was looking for. I must have been tired last night, because I looked for that link two or three times in the Tech folder and couldn't find it... it's the third line from the top... Have a nice day!
Thanks for all of the replys. The garage quoted $2350 plus tax to do the job. If that does not make you start drinking you are a stronger person than I am, LOL. Serious money but if you want to play I guess you got to pay. Thanks again, Bruce
bvan00, It really does depend on your wrenching abilities and confidence level. I did this job about 3 weeks ago and thought I could do it in one day... it took two and part of another!
One thing I would advise is that you take a few pictures during tear-down. I didn't do that and when I got ready to reconnect the injector wiring harness I could not figure out the correct routing. I had watched the videos suggested in an earlier post, but that must have been a different model because mine ('03) was not even similar. Still not sure it is back like it was, but it works and nothing is under strain or chafing or near hot parts - so it's good!
I did have bruises on my chest and was quite sore for several days afterward, but like you found out, the main cost in working on these trucks is labor so you can see significant $avings by doing things yourself. Not to mention the satisfaction of completing the work and the fact that you will probably be more particular and do more cleaning in your work than somebody who is being paid to do the work and needs to keep up production.
However, if you are not somewhat skilled at auto repair, you're probably better off letting a professional do the work. I'd give it a 5 or 6 on a 1-10 scale of difficulty.
BTW Great time to flush your cooling system BEFORE you do this, and refill when finished.

Wiggle in head studs and see what kind of deal, they have to go right through that portion to get to the heads anyway.
I think its more of a tight access and bunch of labor job than it is a super technical job just be organized... dont lose bolts and remember where things go. you should be fine if you do choose to do it.
