After you get the truck, be sure to look up the "USB 2" mod on this forum... It gives you an extra USB port hidden in your glove box for ipod, iphone, whatever. Pretty easy to do, too.
Sync has been around since 2008, my wife's Taurus has the first generation of it. It works fine in her car, though sometimes it has trouble understanding song names and such. The version in my 2011 truck has more functionality like turn-by-turn navigation and vehicle diagnostics, but I don't use any of that, just Bluetooth with my phone and music on a USB drive. It's flawless.
The thing that's been causing Ford issues with Consumer Reports and JD Power and such has been MyFordTouch, which is the integrated touchscreen thing. I think that made it's debut on some 2011 models like the Edge and Explorer, and it's now offered in the F-150 as well. I've played with it a little in friends' cars and I wouldn't say it's that hard to use or anything, but it does sound like Ford rushed it to market before it or the customers were really ready.
