Would you buy again?
I'm just about to plunk down my dough on a Lariat 4x2 Screw, but to be honest, after spending some time reading of the problems others are having with their trucks, I'm a little hesitant.
So, maybe a quick poll will help me make up my mind.

I will be buying a 2004 super crew lariat 5.4 soon, it is being built next week. You always hear about the problems, more so than the good stuff. I figure if there is a problem I now know what most of the fixes are based on info I have read n this website. I am sure the new Ford F150 isnt the only truck on the road with problems and the problems we have been reading about are probably a small pecentage of the trucks built.
No regrets at all...this truck is everything I expected. Very satisfied with it! I made sure I gave it a comprehensive test drive before accepting it, based on the good info this board offers. Had it for 4 months now and enjoy driving it every day and everywhere. I'd definitely buy again!
Yes, I would buy my truck again. The only thing different would be that I would take it directly to a tire shop after leaving the dealer and trade out the cheap General tires for some better tires.

This vibramatic has got me thoroughly pi**ed. Just today, I filed a "Last Chance to Repair", which if followed by Lemon Law action will still cost me nearly $1,000 in statutory depreciation.
Not to mention time spent, mental anguish, numbness to body parts, opportunity cost of money,
Caveat emptor.
I just ordered my new 04 Screw FX4 and I am driving an 02 Screw FX4 now. I would, will and forever be in a Ford Truck.
I can certainly attest to the durability of the Ford Truck. I work in one of the most demanding environments that a truck can be put through- I manage Landfills. If any of you have ever been around a landfill you know the environment. My trucks have spent and will spend the majority of their lives in the dirt and no truck compares. As a company we have brought all the major brands and none have held up like the Ford.
In addition to the durability, I get to ride in comfort. My Fseries my not run 0-60 in 7 seconds but if my reason for buying a truck was only based on 0-60, I wouldn't buy a truck, I would buy a $25K Mustang GT with 300 horses and run 0-60 in a hair over 5 seconds.
The new Fseries is a truck like no other- Great looks, Great ride and Great Value that will last a lifetime (if you choose to keep it that long).
MY LIST OF FSeries trucks:
82 F150 Custom 4X4 stepside- First vehicle it had 100K miles on it when I bought it and I gave it to my brother at 160K- My brother ran it for another 20K miles and a mechanic that works for him still drives it today. Not sure how many miles it has now. Before I bought this truck, it was owned by a logging company in NW PA and spent the majority of its life in the woods off road- I sure miss this truck
96 F150 XLT SC 4X4
97 F150 Lariat SC 4X4
99 F150 XLT SC 4X4
02 F150 Lariat SCrew 4X4
04 F150 FX4 SCrew 4X4 (late June04)
Just a couple notes about some of the other brands that I have witnessed:
1. Dodge- Transmission after Transmission after Transmission
2. Chevy- The bed fell off the truck with no warning- I was amazed that the bed was only welded on.
3. Chevy- Ball Joints, Ball Joints, Ball Joints and more ball joints- I should have bought stock in the ball joint manufactuer cause they were making a killing off us
4. Dodge- Stearing Box- literally fell out of the frame.
5. Chevy- Frame broken twice
6. Toyota- Intermitten 4X4
7. All of the above makes- Door hinges, tailgates, rear springs and hangers and u-joints

Yes, yes, yes and triple that!!! You should check my past posts reviewing my Lariat. This truck is so enjoyable, it's now my preferred entertainment choice!!! The more I drive it, the more I want to drive it. I even look forward to going to work, just for the ride!!! This Lariat rules. Like Nike said: JUST DO IT!!!
I Hate My truck !!!!
We have a Mazda to run around in town, 25-30mpg, but I enjoy driving my truck so much that I find I jump in it to take those short trips, at 13mpg, when I should be saving it for towing and hauling stuff.
But there is nothing like cranking up the audiophile to a little T.K. and cruising to K-Mart.
I do have the rear end shudder, but I am sure my dealer will fix it when I have time to get it to him.
3000 miles and so far, no other problems except trying to stay out of it.

Yes I would buy it again. I read on this board for a while and looked at them for months. When on the dealer lots I did not even test drive one, told them no, I'm not driving one until I'm ready to buy. Then when that day came to buy one, I went and found the one that I wanted, worked out the price, took it for a test drive and came back and signed the papers. Now that I have the FX4 scab the Lightning get to sit in the garage a lot more. It might go all to hell tomorrow but no complaints yet.
Yes, I'd purchase my 4X4 crew again in a heart-beat. Even knowning some of its problems. Three years ago I bought a new house and it had some problems, I'd buy the house again. When I got married I took my wife---well you get the idea. Yes,
is my answer and I'm standing by it.
