2011 f250 fuel problems
Was working great until the other day when I went to hit the gas and the rpms dropped and the truck shut off.
I tried to restart which it would do for maybe a second and then shut down again.
I checked the fuel line going to the top of the engine with the key switch on and there was not very good fuel pressure. so I thought my fuel pump was bad.
After switching the fuel pump, the truck still starts and immediately shuts off.
I checked the fuel line again and this time it is giving an innitial burst of fuel for a second and then nothing.
Anyone know what else it could be?
It sounds like an engine management issue. You may well have had fuel pump problems before -- but, I'm not sure.
It sounds like the computer is not getting the 'engine started' signal. The way it works is that when you turn the key, it runs the pump for 2 seconds. Then it restarts the pump when something signals that the engine is running. I'm not sure what. (rpm, oil pressure? , etc)
So, it could be that the computer isn't getting that signal.
As for your pressure -- do you have a returnless system? Newer trucks have variable speed fuel pumps to adjust the pressure. Older ones had a regulator that sent excess fuel back to the tank. I don't know what yours has.
Anyway, if it's returnless, the pressure could be just what it was supposed to be. Probably worth checking on to avoid confusion about pressure.
I'm no expert and this is just speculation.
Good Luck,
