Yesterday it started acting up and i thought it was a bad fan clutch, power was there, turbo acted normal according to the boost gauge, she was shifting fine but it had a loud fan sound. After she was sitting for awhile I fired her up to see if I could diagnose what was up and the sound was gone, so I took her around the block and it came back. Well after she sat for the night now it wont fire. It cranks and pops once like she wants to start but no go. and I could see everytime it popped that there was smoke coming out of the turbo...... Did I blow the turbo? Im at a loss here and appreciate any help.
Do you have any gauges that read live data like scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like Dashboss for IOS devices or torque for android? They are absolutely necessary in diagnosing these trucks. Do you have any DTC's present? You can have DTC's pending even without a check engine light. You need to check your FICM main volts if you don't have gauges then you can use a DVM to check the FICM main volts which need to be over 45, here is the link to the FICM test procedure from the tech folder, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...procedure.html
