I see no end to this. It is likely to become just like the coolant discussions.

People have gone so far with the Gold coolant and the oil coolers that it is not even funny. It is now almost impossible to state contrary opinions to the people that say Ford Gold coolant will fail in every 6.0L engine it is in, and that every OEM oil cooler is doomed to eventual failure.

It is so interesting that no-one talks about power adder mods or insufficient maintenance when they mention their Torqshift failures - except one truthful person. It seems so hard to convince people to change that external filter and to flush the tranny every 30k miles ................

Blasphemy I SAY!!! Ignore the man behind the curtain... I am the great and powerful OZ!!!

So I didn't need to change my oil cooler or coolant or panic about all this sh_t that hasn't happened yet?!

What kind of party IS this, anyway....

I've bought call options on SP for tomorrow's market open -- hope it goes up

LOL!

Don't get me wrong Scott, clearly the Ford Gold has issues and clearly the oil coolers plug too easily. However, even though changing coolant to ELC or getting a BPD external cooler can be an upgrade, changing out of panic (as you put it) is certainly not ALWAYS needed.

Similarly, I doubt that we find out that LV is the next "deadly fluid from a negligent Ford Motor Co"!

Forget SP futures, I can just feel the prices on used 6.0L's dropping again!

People have trouble getting SP? When I stop in at Tousley they have as much as I want and I think it is 6.50ish per quart.

No, I can't. I left Ford in 2007. MERCON LV hadn't been though of yet. I know nothing about it or the six speed transmissions. My expertise ends with the five speed TorqShift.

Because at one time Ford was supposedly discontinuing SP and LV was the recommended replacement. If your doctor tells you to quit one prescription and go to another, do you tell him to pound sand and stay with the old one?? I personally have had no problems with the LV. I guess time will tell but so far so good. Incidentally, Ford used the LV on my hot flushes.

I picked up SP at Orielly's, $5.99 a quart. They had a case in stock, and got me the second case from a neighboring store. Couple of weeks ago, so I suppose they could be out by now.

And the reason FTE is by far and away my favorite site. Facts are established by competent, credible people that can provide or deny the existence of documentation supporting those facts. No he said she said BS by some troll that was told by Johnny's sisters uncle's mama that he saw on a "FORD" website (who has an overstock of horse apples that they over bought on and need to sell) that cow pies will make your transmission fall out.

This probably got started by some dipshtick, that didn't service his transmission like he was supposed to, who serviced his transmission with an improper fluid and it failed. He thought (and I've seen it a thousand times) that he had the proper stuff because some jackass told him it was good and CHEAP, he made a BAD decision to use it and got burnt. Now he wants to blame everybody but himself for his bad and very expensive decision to go cheap and it all got blown out of proportion.
