I switched from LV back to SP today. My truck now smoothly engages between R-N-D and shifts 100 times smoother.
Interesting, so maybe there is truth to the friction plates being different material in the late 6.0s.... I'd take your qts of LV but the shipping would be ex$pen$ive. I think I might just try the LV -- waiting on my new pan and filter...

Everything I've read about the LV is that it's actually a BETTER fluid than SP.

That's my take as well. But I guess it's only "better" if your trans is set up for it? Must be why folks that do full builds can switch fluids w/ no prob...

"THEY" say it's because of different clutch material, but I always thought the SP/LV was because of the solenoids and electronics and why I never switched when my Suncoast was put in.
I've had absolutely zero problems with LV in my 05. I've wondered how many people having minor tranny problems do a flush with LV and then blame the imminent failure on the fluid instead of a lack of maint, abuse or tuners.

BAM---smacked the nail on the head with a 10 lb. sledge hammer
As far as tuning goes, ive been told numerous times by all ages of people that running a tuner (with GOOD tunes, for your truck) improves the life of the transmission by not allowing so much slippage between gears. You feel actually feel the shift, but its prolonging the life. I dont know though...i just read on the internet and listen to people

I'll go with the proper tune possibly not damaging the tranny but extending its life is stretching it. JMHO.

Stretching it, breaking it, and a whole lot of wishful thinking. A tuner decreases the life of the transmission. Extend the life? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
