Im having trouble with my 6.0 on start up when cold...Before cranking over i let the glow plugs turn on then i crank the truck, it turns on but for a bit it coughs and throws out black smoke like theres raw fuel then as it gets hot it stops and runs perfectly fine...On my edge programmer its throwing codes for each cylinder saying "Injector Circuit Low"

You'll need to check your FICM volts at KOEO and while cranking. I'm guessing your FICM is toast or at the very least on it's way out.

A redneck way to also test the FICM is to use a good hair dryer or heat gun and heat up the FICM before starting and seeing if that helps with the cold start running.

If it's throwing all injector circuits low the FICM is toast. Agree with Josh.

I would check the connectors first.

Also, having your unit repaired at FICMrepair.com is WAY better than buying a new one (unless you don't mind spending the money and buy BPD's re-engineered FICM).

KOEO voltage should be no less than 47 volts. If you have 47 or more volts on that test watch FICM voltage as you try and start the engine. If it dips below 47 volts replace it. Also on your scanner you will have all 8 cylinder codes for low voltage. Ford offers a "half shell" FICM for a lot less than a complete one for about half the price. And the half shell doesn't need programming.

No less than 45 volts at any time FYI

Have you tested the ficm yet? I would definitely test before repair/replacing.

47 is as low as I'll go with good batteries and alternator. But you can do whatever works best for you.

I suppose if you know better than Ford: TSB 10-12-6

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...10-12-6-a.html

I'm not sure if ED would even repair a FICM that shows greater than 45 volts.

Ed will PROACTIVELY make all the necessary upgrades and perform the required resoldering - even on FICMs that are supposedly working fine.

It is a nice reliability upgrade.
