i have a 2002 f150 and about 6 months ago i started having to click "unlock" on the remote entry to allow the vehicle to start. Otherwise, you turn the key and "nothing" like the kill from the anti-theft is active. It happens 60 seconds after the engine is turned off. You can restart the truck within 60 of turning it off but after that you have to hit the unlock button on the remote to start it.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I have tried reprogrming keys, new Remote, disconnect battery to reset stuff.... I can always start it this way but it is annoying when i have only been out of the truck and never locked the doors but have to unlock via the remote clicker to start the truck.
It was on the truck when i bought it new in 02. I suppose the dealer could have added prior to sell. I don't have the window sticker detailing the options, etc, is there another way to find out?
It might be an upgrade, there is a small red light on the underside of the steering-wheel that I haven't read anything on the threads, people mention the "theft" light in the conslole but nothing on the small red light.
Maybe i need to get it to an alarm shop or just keep hitting the unlock button to allow it to start. Thanks for any input.
