COP - Correct P/N?
A little over a year ago, along with the plugs, I replaced all 8 COP's with Motorcraft DG511 parts purchased from an aftermarket source. I did this mostly as a part of my sometimes **** approach to P/M, and I thought maybe I was having a misire (but wasn't). Since then I have had periodic misfire problems that were each solved by warranty replacement of specific COP's. The last two (of five) were replaced at the end of April. Early this month it reared its ugly head again but without a code. So, methodically I replaced each of the 8 coils one cylinder at a time (using an original COP) without success. Since then I have replaced ALL of the COP's with the original (from factory) COP's, and the problem seems to be gone. YEA!
During this process I realized that some of the replacement COP's had a different drawing/part number etched on them, though they all came in boxes labeled DG511. The original parts plus four of the replacements have 3L3E-12A366-CA on them. Four of the replacements have 8W7E-12A366-AA on them. I am unsure what number was on the ones I returned for warranty replacement already. I cannot help but think this may somehow be the root of the problem. Does anyone know if the latter number is appropriate or not?

Nevermind. The local dealership (Fort Mill Ford) helped me out with some good information. The 3L3E-12A366-CA "engineering number" is the correct one (P/N DG511) and no updates/changes have been issued. The 8W7E-12A366-AA engineering number correlates to DG508E which is not stocked anywhere in the U.S. supposedly.
Contacted Summit Racing, who has been very accommodating in righting their mistake, and they will be sending me replacements once I return the four with the incorrect number. Only question is whether the replacements will have the right number. Will know in a week or so. They also indicated that a DG508 (no "E") was for the 2V engine. Fortunately, I am a pack rat and kept the originals which work fine.

Tool: I just replaced all 8 with these. $16 cheaper per COP then our local dealer.
