That's what I thought too. But I like the outside air, so if it cools that down that's the way I'm going to go. Good luck guys, I know you'll like the improvement either way.

One way to check is get truck to operating temp, then feel the hoses and see which is warmer.
Just the opposite, water flows from the pass side head to core then to water pump

This is the one I got Buy Factory Air Heater Control Valve 74809 at Advance Auto Parts

It allows the coolant to keep circulating.

i hope it works out for you but, did you by chance notice all the bad reviews it got on their site. i'd keep my eye on it.

I did not notice the reviews but have not had any problems yet and seems to be working.

Will it cause any problems have manual shut off valves in the heater core hoses since the coolant is circulating? It seems to me that if its supposed to flow from the head through the core to the water pump and u shut that off, what's the alternate route for coolant to circulate?

There is a bit of an issue. It still circulates but if I recall one end of one head doesn't get well circulated.
