I can post pics of any 1980/89 truck column you desire, but you don't have a truck column now.
Do you have images of these column installed in vehicles? Just putting my eyes on what I am supposed to see there will be helpful. I really need a pic of one in the truck as opposed to a part laying on a counter (or a drawing).
I really appreciate your help, but the parts drawings do not show what the part should look like as it is mounted in the truck.
Reason for my request of actual pictures:
I made a mistake in ordering the Borgeson shaft without first confirming distance between my current steering box and column. The Borg has two parts to the telescoping shaft -- an inner solid piece and an outer tube piece. The inner solid shaft is too long, so cutting the outer tube section isn't going to work. This comes straight from Borgeson who I called on the phone. They thought something might be different about my truck, and it appears they are right.
The problem is that I don't want to rush out and buy a $ column only to discover that the PO swapped out a steering box with some other vehicle, and that I'll have even more problems or parts to swap.
A picture (not a parts drawing) of the correct column installed in a truck (in the engine where I can see the length and auto linkage) would be very helpful.
Have no actual pics cuz the only '80's truck I've owned was a new 1988 F150 Lariat Stupor Cab that I traded in on a new 1992 F150 Lariat Stupor Cab.
Prior to 1988 had a 1979 F150 Lariat Stupor Cab, 1971 F100 Ranger XLT, 1968 F250 Ranger, 1965 F100. All also bought new.
Never cared for 1980/86's and the 1997/2003 F150's were fuglier. Rejoiced when 2004 F150's came out, bought one a them and a 2011 F150, both Lariat Stupor Crews.
Should have searched first.. cross referencing the answer:
