My truck has a dead spot in the throttle. Its very annoying cause i have the ts 6 chip and it bucks hard after you get thru the dead spot. I've read on some of the postings. And tried some things. Finally I just dis-mounted the switch from the pedal. So when I turn the truck on I just click the switch once , then there's throttle response. And it's much smoother. My question is that is it ok to do this ? I mean I don't see why not , I just want to make sure. Also it provides a sort of anti theft system. Hehe. I'm thinking if mounting the switch next to my brake controller so it's easily accessible. Thanks
Daniel
The IVS only signals the ECM that the go pedal is either on idle or off. After that sequence, it reads the position of the TPS. Do you hear the click of the switch when the pedal is pushed ? Do you have throttle response after pushing the pedal or is the throttle dead ? Is it intermittent ? I got stranded a couple of times in town and almost got t-boned once.
For the price of a new IVS, I would swap it out and go from there. Look in the stickied parts thread, there is a link to the outfit that sells them.
The switch clicks about 3/4"down. Then has response. Sometimes the "check engine light" comes on and I have to pump it several times. I know that could mean the tps is bad. But I've literally bought 5 new tps' from napa. And they last for about a month then the check engine light comes on randomly. It's the Forman brand. I was looking for one from ford and they don't offer the tps alone. So I'm gonna try my new setup after I fix the clutch this evening
I did this same thing and got the same desired result. I tried to put a new IVS on and connect it back up and got the CEL. I put the old one back on and left ti alone, not it drives well again. I am just stumped.
