Hey all, New here. Trying to figure out if my front leafs are factory or not. I assume so but they look extremely weak for a 9k rig. Ive been searching but I have not come across anything that specifically answered my question
Thanks all

Do you like the way it rides? Does it bottom out? How do you live with all that rust?..lol
First off your Excursion isn't 9,000 lbs; it's closer to 7,800. And secondly if you ever look at the front springs of a Freightliner road tractor you'll also see a 2-leaf spring that doesn't look much beefier, and that's rated for 12,000 lbs axle weight! You can't judge a spring by the look.
Fat fingered that. I meant to put 8k. Guess your right on the looks. I'll order up some new ones soon
And yup, looks factory to me! My V-codes left my front a good 1-1.5" higher than the rear, so you may be dissatisfied with the results. There are other options such as airbags for the front, and those are adjustable to provide the amount of support you're looking for.
Never liked the droopy rear end look!

Ride is alright. I'm about to make a haul, so I'm going to make sure everything is tip top!
Gotta love a good southern car! I don't know how you northern guys work with all that rust! Go to fix one thing and break 3 in the process!

I would leave them alone then, they aren't going to break.

True, They also are not going to improve. Mine as well do it. I am going to have the front end apart for brakes, steering gear and shocks, only logical to go ahead ant take care of another worn out part while I am there

Very true. And if you can afford it, especially if you're "about to make a haul" then it makes perfect sense to upgrade the worn out springs, especially if you're upgrading them over the stock ones Ford put on them from the factory.
Just be aware (like Bion already stated) you'll have to do something with the rear end too if you go with the V's, or another spring that gives you the same lift, or more.

If they don't bottom out and they work fine why would you want to fix something that ain't broke? They are supposed to be de-arched like that. They aren't going anywhere.
