2003 Excursion XLT with cloth bucket seats with center console right now. I'd like to have the option of having another seat in the front rather than the console which is just a junk collector for me... We have a big family and the wife always like sliding in to the center of the old bench seats on car rides. I am guessing the center section of a 40/20/40 split bench will bolt in but don't know for sure.
Has anyone ever put the center section in to their ex?
Any pics of how it looked?
Bolt right up?
How is the seat belt set up on the center section?
Any other bench seat options with flip down center armrest?
I did that 3 or more years back. There have been several now. You should be able to search and find numerous threads.
Like you say you just need the 20 jump seat but have to grind off the arm rests on the buckets you have now. The rest is bolt in. The bolt holes are under the carpet and just have to be threaded. I think I used 1/2". The seat belt should come with the seat and are only lap belt. You will need to keep the rear radio controls hooked up as all the rear speakers run thru that control and when unplugged will not work.
I would love to find a 12-13 jump seat as they have a high back and shoulder belt and still fit the same.
Good luck.
Seat hunting on eBay or car-part.com or locally.
IIRC it should bolt right in, I did something similar with an XL work truck swapping for 40/20/40 style seats. The seatbelt bolts through the same hole as the bracket for the seat.
