Hey all, New here. Trying to figure out if my front leafs are factory or not. I assume so but they look extremely weak for a 9k rig. Ive been searching but I have not come across anything that specifically answered my question
negative arch, two leaves, jounce bumper cut off to provide clearance for sagging springs... I'd say, yep. those are C code OEM original springs. Worn out.
First off your Excursion isn't 9,000 lbs; it's closer to 7,800. And secondly if you ever look at the front springs of a Freightliner road tractor you'll also see a 2-leaf spring that doesn't look much beefier, and that's rated for 12,000 lbs axle weight! You can't judge a spring by the look.
And yup, looks factory to me! My V-codes left my front a good 1-1.5" higher than the rear, so you may be dissatisfied with the results. There are other options such as airbags for the front, and those are adjustable to provide the amount of support you're looking for.
That's 12000 lb per set for the Freightliner. 6000lb per spring.
V codes are 10,400 lbs per set. 5200 lb per spring. X codes are 6000lb per spring.
I don't think so. They're not even close. That's the combined rating at the ground, not the rate per spring. I'll post the spec sheet before I go to bed.
Yep, those are stock and if they don't bottom out don't worry about it. If you put heavy springs in you will stiffen the ride.......not something I would want.
Since it looks like you have the Diesel I would say so X codes if you plan on adding a large bumper setup. V codes will work just fine, I have X's in my Ex and the ride actually isn't as bad as everyone says. The X code is the Plow prep package springs from F250-F550 Gas or diesel. When I did my swap I did the front first the rear sat about 3-1/4 inches lower then the front.
