I have used diesel kleen... lucas injector cleaner... and most recently i did an experiment...
Ran 39 gallons of str8 d2 with no additive... got 14.1mpg
Last time i put fuel in i dropped some " power ups lubricants diesel fx diesel fuel booster".
Got about 1/8th tank to go till next fueling and will see what the improvement is
My engine is full of fresh Delo 15w40 with about 600 miles on it.
I have know idea about oil side and fuel side. All I know is that it has helped my miss tremendously.
1. On the Stanadyne. I hear this is the only cleaner that you can run in the truck 100% Pure. A local long time diesel mechanic got me onto the stuff. He uses it before he changes out someones bad injector. He said when someone brings in a truck, mostly ford 6.0 with bad injector he will disconnect the fuel line and run into a gallon of Stanadyne and run the truck at idle for about a half hour to a hour. 9 times out of 10 he said it clears the injector and he does not have to change it.
Also the fact I am adding something that I can run pure make sense to me.
On the ATF in the Oil. We have used that for YEARS in the military. We would not run for long periods but before each oil change. We would add a quart to the oil and let it run up to temp. Then change the oil. So we never ran in the equipment long term but did wonders to clean out the engine for a oil change.
I have only run Diesel Kleen and Stanadyne so can comment on any other cleaners. I use to have to travel a bit to get it also. Once I was sold on it I started to buy in 5 gallon buckets and just refill the 1/2 container that I keep in each truck.
I definatly want to try the Stanadyne. I looked on the website and they sell 8 oz containers, good for thirty gallons. I'm tired of the larger containers lids leaking and stinking in my tool box. One container per fill up, much cleaner.
I know this is a year old thread, but I thought I would *bump* it. We have 2 different fuel additives, and and oil additive that will help out with injector performance.
A bad ICP can cause a miss or hesitation. Pull the connector and see if it goes away. I run a can of Seafoam through my fuel and oil periodically, I think it's great stuff.
