I have a borg-warner t86 transmission in my truck..3 speed on the column with overdrive.
I noticed what looks likethe front seal leaking just a little, and the rest of the trans is covered in old grease.
Pretty sure it's mainly from the front seal..so is this hard to fix?
Do I have to tear apart the whole transmission or can I just drop it and pull the seal out the front?
Pull the transmission, remove the 4 bolts holding the throwout bearing collar to the trans, pull it off, the seal is in the rear part of it. If there are thin gaskets,(shims) be sure to get all of them back in place.
Remove the transmission, take out the 4 bolts holding the throw out bearing cage to the front of the trans, the seal is in the rear part of it. No need to go into the trans.
