Squeek while shifting..?
Every time i shift, when i push in the clutch, it lets out this squeek, thats pretty loud, sounds like the leafsprings in the back squeeking like a normal pickup truck. It's really annoying.
It does it under anything more than very light acceleration.
I've ried to replicate it with tapping the brakes, and hitting bumps, but it just wont do it. It does however make a similiar noise on the speed bumps in nuetral.
Is this just suspension, or is it an engine/tranny/transfer mount thats lose or something?
Is that a sign that my clutch is going out? If so, i'm really screwed, because i have absolutely no money for replacing it.
But I suspect it's the pedal cross-shaft bushings under the dash. Try squirting some Liquid Wrench, WD-40, or white lithium grease on them.
Doesn't matter how fast i push in the clutch. Once the truck stops accelerating (when i push in the clutch) it makes the squeek. It'll do it when i hold the gas pedal in the same spot too.
Do you think it could be my beat up old shocks? The thing is i can't get it to squeek like that with the brakes or bouncing up n down in the bed.
I tried spirting some oil pretty much all over the leaf springs and connections in the rear. I'm gunna try the front suspension, altho it doesn't sound like its coming from there.
This brings me to another question... Is it normal for the stick and gear selector (transfer case) stick to move a bit more than an inch to the drivers side when i'm accelerating hard? It's twisting with the 300's angry torque, but should it twist that much?
I did notice tho that the muffler has wrotted out quite a bit, and twists freely in the in tube. It makes that squeeking noise when i twist it, and i'm assuming this is the noise (i'm also hoping).
I'm gunna crack out the welder and tac it in place, see if it stops the noise.
