I suspect you knocked the oil pressure wire off when changing the water pump. Also got an idea that the pump maybe making the noise.

i checked the wires when i noticed the oil pressure was gone and they were all in but im suspecting the nothing is being lubricated because its not a constant or rythmic squeek it sounds like either a bearing is messed up or something is not lubricated i will change the oil pump tomarro and we will decide from there.

Bub, Changing a water pump does not knock out an oil pump. You are quite callable to bang your own knuckles, but just reading your post, your issue seems to be at the top of the engine. I don't believe main bearings squeak. I urge you not to go after the oil pump, without further help.

Before disassembling the engine suggest looking into possible causes that are less labor intensive. From the list of items installed don't see anything that would cause the problem except perhaps the water pump or a fan belt not centered, or it's binding. Had a simular issue, thought it possible the water pump so I squirted some penetrating oil into the relief hole in the watter pump and it quieted down somewhat thus determined it had to be replaced. Can't do much diagnosing until determine the cause of no oil pressure; possiably bad sending unit;keeping in mind, there are 2 different type oil prssure sending units; if replaced, make sure the sending unit matches the type gauge. Without running the engine, pull the valve cover and turn over couple cycles to determine if oil is getting to the heads? Curious if the noise continues with the clutch disingaged. Anyhow, couple suggestions as food for thought?

im not saying that changing the water pump would knock out the oil pump but it did over heat not bad enough to blow the motor the thermostat had the original blue pain on the gasket from when it came out of the factury so i figure the guy i bought it from never put anything into it to keep it in any more shape than running. when i changed the oil it was nasty so i put a half quart of marvels mystery oil and i kinda suspect that it knocked some sluggy oil loose. i was hoping the noise was the the water pump because its coming from the front of the engine and i the oil pump is on the front of the engine on the 352. it was not doing this 3 days ago so realy i have no clue. i worked in a machanic shop for 2 years but i never diagnosed vehicles i just followed a list of things to do so im not obliviouse to machanic work just diagnosing them.
