I just got a new 2005 F250 4X4 (deisel). So far it's been great, but a couple days ago there was a slight squeeking noise coming from one of the wheels. We were driving about 60 mph on the freeway and the noise got louder & louder. After trevling about 2 miles with the noise, I was going to stop to check the undercarriage but the noise mysteriously dissappeared.
My truck only had about 400 miles on it. It hasn't done it again, but what do you think caused this squeeking noise...?
(I'm not a mechanic, but it sounded like it came from the rotars because the noise would slow down as the wheels slowed).
Okay Mr. Lamkin,
Read the link attachment but didn't see anything that addressed "squeeking wheels." Once again, the problem hasn't re-occurred, but I'd like to find out what may have caused my wheels to squeek so loudly (for about 2 miles).
I had the same problem on my 03SD. The service advisor took it for a drive and said it was the seal on the front wheel. Turned out it was the wheel bearing.

OK Mr. Roe
The link was for a WELCOME...NOT to answer your question...no worry will not welcome you.......again
I had a similar noise, and it was the Drive Shaft Center Bearing. The dealer did not diagnose it correctly the first time. Search my user name to find a thread on Whining Wheels, and you'll see other possible causes for this type of noise.
Had this problem with my old 98 Z71. A small rock had gotten wedged into the rotor and pad somewhere and made a horrible screeching until I hit this next set of pot holes in our New Mexico roads and the rock fell out. If your brakes are working fine now and you don't notice any other related issued then don't worry and drive happy.
My 03 made a sqeaking noise it was the front wheel bearing seal. I am not sure this is the noise you are hearing. Mine only made this noise when it was cold out. My 04 also does this but it needs to be really cold. I didnt worry to much about it, if you hear it again, which you may not until it gets cold out if it is the same noise I had, then bring it back. If you dont hear it again chock it up to something caught in the brakes or in the tire. Just my .02
