Excessive Regen Cycles

Excessive Regen Cycles
My truck is a 2011 F250 w/ around 26k miles on it. I have been getting around 2-3 regens per tank. When it is was new I got around 1 regen per tank...with similar driving habits. My wife brought the truck in the the dealer for the normal oil change and mentioned the regen issue. They called her back and told her that the exhuast valves (I'm assuming in the exhuast system) are bad and they are going to replace them. Has anyone had this issue or had the dealer say something simular?

My vote goes towards not letting the regen completely finish.
If you don't let it get done then depending upon how much was completed it could try again as soon as you are up to operating temps.
There can be other causes of excessive regens as well. Burning too much fuel is one.
I would suggest you get a monitor to you can see it when it starts and then see it till it finishes.

I plan on deleting soon so this will no lnger be an issue, but I wanted to let others know what i was seeing and what the dealer found.
I will follow up with results when I get the truck back from the dealer. My wife is going to take it cross country in a few weeks. It will be interesting to see how the regen cycle will be then.

There is a TSB out there. Not sure if the dealer was referring to this one:
TSB 13-5-9: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/pu...sb13-05-09.pdf
What dealer what this if I may ask. My truck does everything the TSB states and I was getting frequent regens but my dealer made it sound they never hear of this.

With talking to my wife......(I'm currently deployed and out of the country), this is what she told me the dealership that after diagnosing the issue they are now replacing the 8 exhaust valves. So I guess this TSB applied to my truck.
Some 2011-2013 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a runs rough/misfire condition only during the exhaust regeneration process. This condition typically occurs on light throttle tip in between 64-113 Km/h (40-70 MPH), and will not set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The concern may be intermittent and a knocking noise may be present during the concern.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Step 1- Did the customer indicate the message center displayed a Cleaning Exhaust Filter message prior to the concern?
Yes - proceed to Step 2.
No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.
Step 2- Using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or equivalent, retrieve DTCs from the Powertrain Control Module. Are DTC's present?
Yes - this article does not apply. Refer to the PC/ED manual for normal diagnosis.
No - proceed to Step 3.
Step 3- Remove the left hand cylinder head. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01.
Replace all eight (8) exhaust valves and valve seals.

She should get the truck back on Thursday so I will be curious to hear what the final service record says.

Regen monitor
I used to think the That I got a Regen every 400 miles or so. Then I got a Edge insight, I know now when the trucks is going to Regen. I wass so wrong on how often it Regen's. I see a Regen about every 120 to 150. I was missing it.
If I am towing or going on very long trips it does decrease the amount of Regen's. But even when towing I see a Regen every 600 miles.
I would like to know what people see with there Edge insight.
On Edit
That is with me finishing the regen.
