Jumping into this thread to see if a member comes up with the P/N. Currently in the infancy stage of learning how to use the Ford Master Catalog and could not find a part number for the item.
According to 240/300 diag. the came up with a base # 7A531 but could not fine the item in the Text section???
Suggest check w/ local Ford dealer, or part supplier, believe the 6cyl. ball is same thru 77. If not; checked 2-3 Ford Part supplier's, according to their online catalog they only offer the pivot ball for the V8., specifically the 302. Suggest contact one of the more reputable suppliers and inquire, can't imagine they would not have the 6cyl ball. Did find 1 supplier who list the 6cyl. ball and that is John's Fun100 out of SoCal but can expect to wait at least 2 weeks to receive the item.

7A531 is only showing as applicable for the E series Econoline models so you must have started with the wrong illustration. Section 75 pages 25 and 26 are what you should be looking at as far as I know for the F series.

Thank you, went back and retraced my steps and see where I started off with the wrong illustration and although it took me 30 min's to come up with the wrong answer now believe I have little better understanding as to how to use the catalog; as NumbersDummy mentioned in his 'Ford Master Catalog break down' it's a matter of counting 1,2,3. Goes to show some times can teach ole timer's new tricks.
