Another TTB dilemma

I hope I'm posting this in the correct area. My truck: 89 F250 4x4 LD. My truck has bad negative caster. I have stock tires 245/75-16 the toe is correct I believe because the tires are wearing evenly. Also it doesnt matter if Im driving forward or have backed up, the caster is the same. My friend is a Ford fanatic and says I need new center pivot bushings. Does this sound correct? Also we have jacked up the front end and wiggled the tires and the ball joints dont move, idk if that means there ok or not. And just to reduce confusion my truck is a 3/4 ton so it has leaf springs not coil springs.

One last thing, would it be a bad idea to convert from leafs to coils? Because I know leafs are way restrictive as far as motion and make the front end real stiff. I dont know if theres 3/4 ton duty coils out there or not.

Thanks for any info on this

I think you mean negative camber? Are you talking about when the top of the tire is tilted inwards?

Negative camber is not generally caused by bad pivot bushings (I mean they would have to be REALLY bad). If you are seeing it on both sides, it's probably because your springs are worn out. Camber must be adjusted for ride height - as the springs wear, and let the front-end sag, they induce negative camber on a swing-axle front-end such as TTB.

You can convert your truck to coil spring by using F150/Bronco parts (spring tower, spring perch, etc) and then putting in the correct coil springs for the 2WD version of your truck.

On my 92 f150 it was the axle pivot bushings. I was told it was due to worn out coils and shocks as well but I replaced those and new ball joints and wheel bearings and tires still had negative camber. I got the new pivot bushings and havent had a problem since.

Well, there you go. I personally have never seen this is all I can say. Worn springs are a much more common cause of negative camber on these trucks, but I guess you cannot rule out the pivot bushings, either.

Yea Jas88 I had never seen it either. After I put the new coils on it lifted the front up about an inch, but didnt help tires. I had to take it to my local shop for them to put it on the lift and actually show me it was the pivot bushings lol.
