I have a 2002 ford f250 with a 4in staright pipe and edge juice with attuitude but I want more horsepower my goal is about 500hp what should I do or get?
Maybe John Force to push it?? No seriously I don't have all the answers you want but I do know you will need a forged motor, more turbo, 180cc injectors at minimum I'm guessing? And Jody from DP tuner to get it all to work together. To sum it all up about 10K at minimum to make it happen. Some one will chime in with more answers for you just give it time.
You want a motor from E99-2000 because they have forged rods from the factory able to take 500 horse. You will need to set aside about 5,000.00 alone for a transmission able to take that kind of abuse so BTS transmission. You need a baseline to start with, Invest in quality gauges and tuning. Throw away the Edge junk and youll find plenty of answers for quality tuners. Lets get back to the base truck BEFORE you do that kind of power at minimum you will need, a bigger turbo, A solid transmission (BTS or JW) Upgraded HPOP to start with. Larger injectors require custom tuning anyways. The biggest problem you will run into is the PMR rods in the block. So as stated above about 10k to get you started, this is also assuming the truck is 100% sound to begin with.
Where's Joey when you need him? He's popped 500... and then some. Big HPOP, huge turbo, titanic air intake, and fire hoses for injectors - plus the aforementioned monster transmission. 400 is a more realistic goal if it's a daily driver, and it's plenty for spitting out riceballs and passing the pokeys. 500 gives you a twitchmobile that demands constant wrenching.
the first thing i would do is get rid of the edge programer before you need to replace your transmission.
replace it with a chip with custom tunes and you will realize the edge products are garbage.
then go with what Curtis has listed above, and you will be very close if not over the 500 hp mark.
I was sleeping Tugly..
500hp, here is my build
Forged rod block
238/100 injectors (full Force)
terminator dual HPOP (overkill)
Borg Warner S468 turbo (overkill)
Full regulated return for the fuel
Walbro fuel pump with airdog 150 and sump off the fuel tank.
ARP head studs
comp 910 springs (shimed)
BTS Trans (stock won't live long)
Custom Tuning
The reason for the HPOP and turbo, With the list above I am at 510hp, All I need to make 600 is injector swap and better valve springs.. In case my fever gets worse
