I need to rebuild a 7.3

I just hauled a 24 foot dovetail and a dodge 2500 megacab 520 miles and the last 100 was mainly hills. Once i got to the destination i was in a knocking rouph idling truck. Were can i find sone parts to revive the motor? I was thinking some pistons and rings but all i could find was sone on ebay.

Depends on what you have a standard 7.3 or 7.3 factory turbo motor?

Unless it was low on oil I bet the "knock" is fuel related. Check injectors and pump first. But northernautopsrts make couple different kits and seem to be legit

It never went below the low mark on the dip stick. It was a fresh oil change before the trip. You can here the miss in the exhaust back there and feel it slightly while in the truck at an idle.

It is a factory standard 7.3. No turbo installed

If you can hear it in the exhaust then it's not lower end related. Check the fuel system as suggested.

use a stethescope to listen to the injectors. often when they go bad they start knocking. or you can just loosen the fuel lines to them one at a time to see which one kills the knock. once you've confirmed thats what it is, a set of new injectors would be wise.

Start with a compression test. Then after its been running feel the injector lines for any that are hot compared to the others. I also agree with cracking lines. See which one makes the knock go away, or doesnt affect the miss. You can find the cylinder that is missing.

Could anyone watch the video on the thread about the engine knock ( bad injectors). i just put it on the top of the list but it will fluctuate around id imagine. It will take me a few days to get to my truck were it was left at.

when referencing another thread,just toss a link to it like so;
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...injectors.html

he has three symptoms of failing injector(s) there in his vid.not saying it was his issue,but he had a knock,a bad miss, and a lot of white smoke out the exhaust.
when diagnosing,start with the simpler things and work your way up.don't start by first assuming you need an engine rebuild.start via the diagnoses the guys above stated.
im not suggesting you do it,but i would have poured 4 quarts of mercon in the fuel tank had this happened to me.
