I installed 3 gauges into my truck, egt, boost, and trans temp. egt and the boost work but I cannot get the trans temp to work for the life of me. I checked and there is power going to the gauge, but I don't get anything out of the signal wire not sure if I'm supposed to or not. The prob is in the transmission right above the shifter arm. not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'm going on a road trip this weekend so suggestions are welcome.
What have your ambient temps been? Is this empty at highway speeds or towing? All stock coolers?
For reference lately it had been around 85 degrees ambient and I have still yet to bring my trans temp off of its peg at 120. I know it's not too far away from being able to bring up around 140-170 in "city" once the ambients come up some more towards summer. But depending on gauge sweep and ambients and how long it has been installed you may not be bringing off of it's park position yet.
the gauge is made by sunpro, the sweep is 100-280. today is was 82 when I took the truck for a ride to test the gauge. everything on the truck is stock, except the tuner.

I drove 3 miles to the parts store, shut it off for about 5 minutes then drove back home another 3 miles. I had the truck running in the driveway for about 10 minutes before I left and the truck got up to normal operating temperature before I left the driveway.
I recently installed isspro trany temp gauge & it would be questionable to get a reading in three miles with truck empty on mild day.try working the trany with some 0 to 60 launches or longer drive.

Yea thats most likely not enough? And I dont know if the temp rises at idle or only when the trans is engaged. Get in, and run a 15 miles test drive, and hilly as as Tugly said to.

That's not enough to warm up the transmission. The gauge probably wouldn't move off the 100°F peg, or if you have a 140°F minimum gauge it certainly won't move with short of a drive. Idling does almost nothing to warm up a transmission.
