2005 FX4 truck. Doesnt click when going straight, but if turning wheel like turning into or out of a parking spot, it makes a clicking noise that gets faster as you get faster. It sounds almost like a baseball card in a bicycle spoke honestly. Dont know if its related, but about 3 months before i noticed the sound I had the Rancho quick lift struts installed on the truck. Somebody told me it could be wheel bearings but in my experience a wheel bearing will make a roaring noise, and it would roar while going straight down the road. This is only when turning the wheels. Also, it doesnt matter if you turn left or right, you can hear it both directions.
It could be the front wheel IWE hubs for your 4wd system. They could be a little catywompus in your hubs and getting out of alignment on turns. I just changed out both of mine. Mine sounded kind of like a ratchet being spun

Thats exactly what it sounds like. Good description. So what did you replace exactly? The hub itself?
You may not need them. Mine was a little more severe and under different circumstances. My hubs were constantly lightly grinding under acceleration. I changed them out last week because they were ground so low that they couldn't engage. I then disconnected vacuum from them because they still had a light grinding noise to them that I didn't like. This indicated a lack of vacuum present to separate the hubs. I'm still looking into that issue.
