Front right wheel is making noise, whats the deal?? NEED HELP
It sounds worse when I brake like a grinding, but when I start going again its a cross between a grind and a squeal hard to explain.
Anyways I jacked both front tires up no play on drivers side and a slight i mean slight up and down play on passenger side ( i just replaced ball joints so they should be all good)
how do I figure out if its a warped rotor or the wheel bearing and how hard are either of those to replace? Can I do them myself in the garage over the weekend?
when i turn the wheel you can hear something rubbing but it just doesnt sound like a rotor, if it was a rotor wouldnt it rub then quit then rub again as it made its way through the brake caliber?
PLEASE HELP I NEED THE TRUCK ON THE ROAD ITS HOW I MAKE A LIVING.
Thanks again!

I'm having the same grinding noise, mine is coming from the passenger side hub bearing,it don't do it all the time, sometimes when I'm braking, sometimes it just makes a slight roaring noise,I put NAPA hubs on a couple years ago,but the passenger side is bad already, also there is no movement up down side to side either, but I know that's the problem....Phil
EDIT: I think Autozone has the Timkin hubs, they're the good ones...

I do not know what your problem is, but replacing either front rotor (2wd) or bearings (there are 2, inner and outer), if I remember correctly, as it was a while, is pretty easy, shouldn't take you more then an hour, as there is only one nut holding it all in, just make sure you have good grease to repack it. (4wd) would probably be similar, but have never done it.

Hey countryboy, Imo, it isnt the rotor .I have a similar issue with my drivers side. It was more of a squeak. However, when I would turn right, it would disappear. Straighten up, start the squeak again. I was always told that by the time you heard the squeak/squeal, it was too late! Bearings would be toast.Because $$$ is very tight here, I removed the hubs, thoroughly cleaned them, and repacked the bearings. The noise still rears it head every now and then, but only at a fraction of the noise level. I thought it would be worth a try since pulling the hubs is very easy, and if it didnt work, I would have lost some time.
When the money tree in my back yard blooms again, Im gonna replace both hubs!

Well I have been wrong I replaced the hub today, didnt fix it, took it off returned it. Then put a rotor on the front didnt fix it (cant return rotors), went to the back to replace that rotor and then I found the problem! The bolt that holds the brake bracket to the spindle fell out or broke off!!! Causing one side of my brake bracket and brake caliper to rub against the inside of my wheel, so now I am replacing that particular brake bracket and caliper for the 2nd time in 1 months...great I hate spending money twice.

Those bolts don't just fall out or break by themselves. That is a VERY uncommon failure.
I'd bet you didn't use a torque wrench when you re-assembled it last month, did you?
These rigs aren't your grandfather's Model A, where "tight enough" was good enough. There are specs for a reason, and it's far better to adhere to those than just "winging it".
Most of us in this forum have maintenance manuals (at least on CD) and are willing to share any and all info with anyone who doesn't have them. Just ask.
