Have a 2003 7.3l powerstroke. Recently it stalled on me going down a hill. Got it restarted and limped back to house. installed a new fuel filter in the engine compartment. Ran great, but this AM (about a moth later) it stalled on me again. Restarted hard like it had been starved. Ran it out and drove fine. looking for help to diagnose the problem.
Do you happen to have a fuel pressure gauge? If so, what is the pressure when the stalling occurs? By the description provided...I am wondering if maybe the fuel pickup foot has fallen off?
Fuel Pickup foot is inside the tank and is replaced with a new one when the hutch mod is performed. I just did that on mine, even though I was not having any issues, but he foot was broken and the screens were filthy.
Understood (partially). Clue me in on a "hutch mod" FYI: Fuel pump was changed out many moons ago. Truck currently has 294K miles. Don't believe the tank has every been removed and cleaned.

These trucks operate in HEUI injection, which uses a high pressure oil to run the injectors. Low oil leads to lack of oil pressure, which means lack of fuel injection. Here's some info on how the 7.3 injection system works.
