Hey guys, I am looking to just pick up a push button from the local parts store, and just wire it to the blue/yellow wire off the column. Is this gonna mess up anything, or would I be good to go?

What's wrong with the horn button the truck came with? If the horn doesn't blow, it has little to do with the button unless its nylon retainer (13A809) has one/two/all three of its prongs broken off.
Usual cause why horn doesn't blow is horn brush (13A821), has a thin copper wire that snaps. Located on the outside of the steering wheel, visible when button removed.
Horn button (C3TZ-13A805-C includes retainer), retainer (C2DZ-13A809-A) and brush (C2OZ-13A821-A kit, includes 13A822 insulator) reproduced.
The steering wheel that I have on there right now is aftermarket, and essentially does not push in to activate the horn.
If you have one of those aftermarket 3 chrome spoke with a soft outer rim steering wheel there should be a spring under the chrome horn button. This spring holds the horn button and the horn plate contacts away from the steering wheel. Once those horn plate contacts touch the metal steering wheel the horn would blow. If your horn button and it's contacts are touching the wheel and not blowing the horn, the original owner either disconected the wire under the horn button or threw away the horn brush (13a821) that Bill mentioned in the above reply. Why look down for a aftermarket switch when it's safer to see what the Moron in front of you is doing? The nut who you wanted to blow the horn at in the beginning! Buy either a new steering wheel "horn kit", 13a821 brush, and/or the horn relay under the hood. After years of non-use the relay (c4az13853a)may be bad. If you need one let us know. Either Bill or I can tell you which dealers have it left.
There is a cover, but everything is missing. All I am asking is if I can take the blue/yellow wire and hook it up to a push button? I appreciate the parts references, but I do not wish to go that route at this time. I would like to do a little custom push switch for it.
Here's what I have set up on my truck. I have a small air horn setup under my truck. The air pump requires juice to run so I just used the switch for the windshield washer pump from a 66 ford truck. I put mine on the floor a little ways from the high beam button.
This one is on ebay right now, but you can find these at wrecking yards. The cool thing is, it's a ford item.
