Mine makes 27-30 pounds of boost with 1's. I think the limit for this turbo is 30 pounds of boost? I've heard of a few people running II's with stock turbo, but I would think it's a ticking time bomb if you're running it hard.
If you do 1.5's just have an emergency fund to replace it - but like my earlier post you will wish you had II's if you have to upgrade a turbo, and a tran's.
LOL, if i had 2's then I'll wish I went with 3's...
FWIW, I asked Jim about it. He says that Stage 1's are as high as he would go with a stock turbo. So I'm gonna listen to him on this one.
from what i remember you could buy stage 2s and have your chipped burned as if they are stage 1's then if you ever wanna bump up the power you already have the injectors and just need a chip re-burn after other supporting mods. that is what i will be doing when i get injectors unless i'm completely wrong in that line of thinking..
the cost are the same between the stages so might as well have them in there if you can!
I'm fairly sure it is as simple as just keeping the tunes turned down. So if you have a 60, 80 and 140 tune, you just run the 60 or the 80 and not the 140... Talking with the tuner of your choice would be the best route to go. Really the only difference between a stage 1 and a stage 2 generally is the size of the nozzle. The 2's won't atomize quite as well at idle but will run better under power if you have the oil to keep up with them. That's my take on it anyway. Travis would be a good one to talk to about this, since he has personal experience running quite a few different configurations of injectors and tunes.
As I mentioned earlier - key point is keeping them tuned down until you have the supporting MODs. The temptation is still there to say, "one time won't hurt" I know I would, then I'd be replacing things sooner than expected!
