Driving back on the highway and lots of bugs. Went to use my windshield washer fluid and it barely sprayed. Bit on the driver's side and none on the passenger side.
When home lifted the hood and noticed the hose was not connected to the passenger connection. Closer inspection showed it had broken. Took it into the dealer, put a new spray on, and the mechanic said that he is getting a lot of Fords starting to come in with either brittle hoses or the plastic connections just rotting away. He said it is not just super duties but F-150s and cars too! He wondered if Ford is using a different manufacturer. Anyway, it is fixed and the part was cheap. That is the good news. Just surprised to hear him say he is fixing quite a few Fords with the same issues. He didn't charge for the labour either.
Here in Canada the bugs will be out soon in force and you really need the bug spray washer fluid. Only days away from the black flies.
Just had to replace my passenger washer nozzle two weeks ago because the plastic disintegrated.
The more I touched it, the more it fell apart in my hands.
I should have replaced them both because the new one is shiny plastic and the other one is dull plastic plus the fact that I figure the other one will break apart, too.
$4 part. My dealer said the same thing, bad plastic but Ford is still charging customers apparently.
$4 is not worth the time to fuss about and it's an easy replacement.
I had plastic jammed into that rubber T connection where it broke but I was able to poke at it (breaking it up) and get all of that out.

I have been on the road for a bit, going to meetings. Now that I think about it I should have just replaced both of them rather than waiting for the other piece to fail. Part is cheap but don't want to be without washer fluid as the bugs have already started to come out big time. Black flies are/were out and biting. Crazy thing is it snowed last night and more today. Hopefully I won't need the snow tires as I took them off and put the snow boots away. I will keep tabs on that piece now that I know they are prone to fail. I have over 122,000 on the truck in about 29 months so I spend a bit of time in the truck.
This just happened yesterday to my 2011. Glad I'm not the only one. I can get the parts from White Bear Lake Ford for $15, but does anyone have any experience installing the nozzles and/or the hose? I'm getting a new hose because I too have plastic stuck in the old one and don't know if I'll be able to get it out. For $6 I might as well just get it. Installing it looks like more of a hassle though...
Everything between the pump and the nozzle on the hood can be replaced with solid components from a hardware store. Hoses, T fittings, etc... Can be retrofitted pretty easy.
Only true ford part that is necessary is the spray nozzles.

Well the hose has already shipped, it was really inexpensive so I just went for it. Looking briefly at the engine compartment, it almost looks like I would have to remove the passenger side battery box to get at the reservoir. Do you know if this is true?
I don't, I just replaced the hose that runs off the T at the passenger side nozzle over to the driver side. At the auto parts store (ore illy) I got a box of assorted vacuum line fittings and some hose sold by the foot and was all set. This was on my 2011 truck that I don't have anymore.
The hose on my truck got pinched by the hood. The replacement part was made wrong and I cobbled together new and old parts. In the future, I'll just buy universal parts at a parts store.
