After a few months of not being able to use the washer fluid on the driver's side of my escape, I have found that the hose was never reconnected after I had some bodywork done. I cannot get the hose to stay connected. Is there a trick to doing this?
Well there is an L shaped hard plastic piece that is supposed to connect to the nipple part on the hood so I can't just clamp it. There is a black ring thing (I'm sorry, I'm not a car girl) on the L shaped piece but I took it off and put it back on while holding the piece on the hood part but it still didn't stay. I think dealers leave pieces like this off so you have to go back and pay $150 for them to make a simple repair.
Have you tried to contact the repair facility? I would and don't just let them tell you no. It worked before the repairs were done and it should work afterwards. Go up the chain if you have to. Keep track of all conversations and with date/time and perosn.
It may only be a 50cent part, but you paid for it once.
If you cannot get the body shop to correct their error, you may have to go to the dealer to buy a new nozzle assembly. The hose *may* be a pre-formed part with special connectors on the end that 'snap' into place "One Time Only", and cannot be disconnected and re-connected. That would explain the part not staying connected, and could explain why the body shop didn't connect the washer - it must be replaced.
