It is no secret that Oklahoma is windy. The most common consensus is because KANSAS SUCKS AND TEXAS BLOWS! I am ALMOST qualified to say that because I used to live in Texas and my dad and my wife are from Kansas. Lol
Anywhoo....we usually have winds between 15-20. Today I was driving South on I 35. I noticed my EGTS were running low 500 at 70 MPH on flat ground. I am usually at 600 or a little higher. I also noticed my lie o meter was climbing. I then noticed a flag standing at attention pointing in my direction of travel. We probably had sustained winds of 30+. On the way home the truck behaved exactly opposite. Higher EGTS and falling lie o meter.
All this to say wind makes a big difference with our trucks and especially if they sit higher than normal. Wind alone can make a 200* or more difference in EGTS.
I ran down to OK from KS couple weeks ago to pick up steel. My boost ran lower when I was loaded than when I was not, guess which way the wind was blowing?
Overhead... it was mentioned. If you want to see something fun or scary; reset your overhead, or look at either Mass Fuel Desired or Volume Fuel Desired on a scan gauge or a scan tool. You can measure how much your economy is bumped or dumped, if compared with a normal flat road with no wind.

I have been wondering what the relationship between MDF and VFD.
Ha, try pulling a 13'6" 5th wheel in a headwind like that. It is brutal!
Ha Ha. Good one Robert. My meter was showing 8.3 a couple of weeks ago, driving out of north Texas into the wind. With 5vr. I didn't even calculate, didn't want to know. It was bad!
Oklahoma wasn't sucking very hard.
And, born in Okie, lived in Texas until last week. Ya hoo.
