Boost Gauge Question

Quick question as to boost level on my STOCK 99. I just finished puuting a set of gauges in and was wondering what the boost should be just driving around town? When I am cruising at 40-50mph just shows around 2 lbs. When I accelerate it gets closer to 10ibs. Been kinda busy getting the kinks worked out of it and tryng to get ready to go on vacation at the same time.

Also, if I am just sitting in my driveway and tap the throttle should it show any boost? Thanks, Tom

2 lbs seems a little low to me, I usually hold around 4-5 lbs cruising, closer to 8 cruising 75@2000 rpms.

When you say accelerate, do you mean a gradual normal acceleration, or "stomping it" to WOT?

No, Normal gradual pulling out of the driveway accelerating. I haven't had a chance to get it to 70 yet and havent tried WOT

10 sounds about right under normal acceleration... you probably won't see any measurable boost just tapping the throttle in the driveway either, not enough time for the turbo to spool up. The only thing that seems a little low is the 2 lbs cruising (I'm running with a dp tuner and more fuel though), but sounds like everything is working tip top! Just some numbers to sorta lay down, under hard acceleration, like getting on the freeway, you should build around 12-14 and I would say 15-17 max at WOT with stock tunes...

Mine runs about the same. Don't put my foot in it much.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the input. I guess now that I can see what's going on I will be noticing a lot more than before. Chris, I ran up the road again and gave it a boot in the butt and it did wind up to 12-14 on hard acceleration. Still haven't tried WOT. Never have done that unless absolutely neccesary. Other than race cars!!

Not to worry. Mine does the same. Just easy cruising in town its right about 2lbs. In driveway its nil, give it throttle and it may budge a lil but not much. Take it on road for mild acceleration and its usually 7-10lbs, cruising highway at 70 and its at 3-5lbs. WOT in stock form gets about 17lbs, while it 80e or 120r it pegs out around 25lbs with a good seat of the pants feeling.

Looks to me like you are spot on with the EGT's and boost. I hit the stop peg on my boost gauge the other day, but it only goes to 40#.

You go 75 mph at 2000 rpm? Did you do something to it to go that fast? I'm right around 69 mpg at 2000rpm. I ask because I think my truck is most efficient at 2000 rpm and under and the speed limit here on some interstates is 75 mph. I like to get that speed at 2000 rpm.

Yeah. I did see those 37s. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

i can regularly get over 25 lbs boost when running in 80 econo and over 30 lbs in 140 race mode at WOT.
the only problem i have is the truck defuels at 22lbs boost, so i had to put a pressure regulator set to 20 lbs in the line before the map sensor to fool it into thinking i am not making boost.
